Searching for free Online Multiplayer game
« on: March 08, 2013, 03:32:35 pm »

Hi bay12ers

A friend and I are looking for a great game to play against or together over the internet. Can you recommend us something?

-free is a must
-no FPS

We both play DF, so complex game is fine too. Thanks for helping. =)

I personally have been playing Urban Dead < http://urbandead.com > lately. It's an online, browser-based game where you can choose to play on either the side of the zombies or the humans. It's pretty low-tech, and it only takes about ten minutes per day to play all your turns, but I still enjoy it.

Do you guys have any specific preferences? RPGs, RTSes etc?
How do you feel about freemium stuff? There's plenty of games that operate on that kind of thing now.
World of tanks isn't exactly a FPS and if you both go in as a platoon and work together it can be pretty fun-- and you can get almost every tank via normal play (although for tier VIII and up it turns into a real grind) otherwise...

Star trek online-- it's pretty fun and most of it is free. Great visuals and not too demanding on comp resources.
There are ships available for cash but generally they're not that different and PvP is practically nonexistent or unbalanced, but the PvE content is fun as hell if you have a good fleet.

Mechwarrior online-- again, freemium and kinda like WoT in the FPS area but you make ingame cash fast enough to buy new mechs pretty fast. Paying users don't get any big advantages. Needs a decent comp to run at any playable level as it's very graphics intensive.

League of legends -- Yeah, it's an okay game -- if you can stand the absolute cesspit that is the playerbase.

There's plenty more, but a lot of them that are free to play are also p2w and I can't in good concience recommend em.
