Right. I give up. I have no freaking bloody clue how to solve the de-sync issue. According to everything I've read on the internet, changing the tempo should solve the problem, but no... The audio is desynced even worse than before. Blah. Any freaking ideas, guys? Or are the next couple of videos going to be sans commentary? (Hint: I really don't want this).

You could record the audio stream separately and splice them together at the end. Running recording software in the background really shouldn't be that big a deal?

Or, just shift the audio after you record the video, but before you upload it, which is trivial in any editing software (the file format saves the two completely separately, most likely).

This is what I'm doing. DosBox is recording the video/sound, and Audacity the commentary.

This is what I'm trying to do. The problem is it's not working. The commentary sound file is a minute and a half longer than the video file, and it's pretty much synced at the beginning, desyncing as it goes on. Yet using Audacity to change the tempo/speed of the commentary doesn't re-sync it. Instead the de-sync just seems to be spread across everywhere unequally.

Yeah. I think I'm going to look into some other recording programs, and if that doesn't work, then... cut up the audio by hand and insert it into the video that way. Then after that I'll go back to the good old-fashioned way of doing the commentary afterwards.
