Regurgitative Defenses

First off, I apologize if this grosses anybody out. Anyway, I just had one of my dorfs take a spear to the stomach and proceed to vomit all over the place. This got me thinking: would it be possible to collect a big cistern of vomit and then dump gobbos in there to die? Would they actually drown or does that only work with water? I'm envisioning a small sewer system full of vomit, FB extract, and generally every nasty  or poisonous substance I can possibly find in the game. Maybe some venom with menacing spikes as an injection system?

Only water and magma have actual depth, vomit/blood/extract are just contaminants. If you can get your flesh melting extract into a pit however, it will melt goblin flesh just as easily.

Is it possible to get spikes with 'A thin layer of (Extract)'? Perhaps by dropping them into contaminated water? Might be dangerous to dwarves, but if you could get them installed by mechanics with shoes and gloves...

I believe that's been done before. The main problem with it I think was that after a few stabbings, the extract got replaced with the blood of whatever you were stabbing. The extract in question was dragon blood, which is superheated, for one of the times this was tested I remember, if it got tested more than once. But anyway, I'm pretty sure the effects of the contaminant do apply.

There was a thread a few weeks back where bolts were temporarily kept outside in an evil biome. After an evil dust cloud passed, the bolts were then collected for use, now tipped with the dust. I want to try something similar, with a Forgotten Beast that releases poisonous gas or dust, but haven't yet managed to isolate a suitable candidate. But yes, contaminated weapons are capable of transferring the contaminant to the victim.

It does not. Hauling doesn't imply physical contact.

Contaminants get cleaned when you place item in building, so your best bet for weapon traps would be webbing poisonous blood beast atop of it.
You can cover bolts with FB secretions such as poisonous vapours or deadly dust not with poisonous breath. Vapours seem to carry more deadly syndromes.
Syndrome will be transmitted upon hit, it doesn't whether or not bolt will log in.
You don't want goblins pierced with such bolts anywhere near water. This will create inconvenient complications.

You can poison the tips of bolts?...("o)...this is fantastic news! I have just the room set up (was waiting on a web throwing FB). However...presumably I would need a target creature - would this creature vomit nastily in its death throes and poison the fortress? If the bolts are in bins, would they still get a coating of loveliness? Would it, indeed, perhaps be possible to launch an attack with infected, vomiting creatures? "Release the wave of Plague Toads, Ulrist!"

It would be funny if puking made other things puke at the sight (and probably the smell) or regurgitated cat biscuits.

When I read the thread title, I thought the question would be "can you get a dwarf to vomit over a hole (or grate) and have that vomit kill a target many z-levels below?" I think the answer to this question is "No".

FB sickness transmits only through FB secretions. Contaminants on items are safe as long as item is not worn or logged in someone (actually I think it will transmit contagion if attack pierces through all armour on target).
Bins will prevent bolts from poisonous upgrade.
I guess if you cover the creature with syndomey coating it will transmit it upon attack. Provided the creature in question doesn't die long before fight.

I think it's got a chance of it, and it's much more likely to happen while wrestling. This is one of the reasons husks are so dangerous (disregarding the whole pseudo-invincibility thing).
