I'm looking at this entire concept and just saying to myself "If a druid comes into this, I want to see him become a Tarrasque and abuse that regen ability."

The main problem with that is that any of the routes that would let you turn into a Tarrasque also let you turn into a high-age dragon or a Solar or any of a gajillion forms that can actually do anything other than survive and hit things within melee range.
