Chaining Spies. Safety.

Hey guys.

I what to know how to chain my own dwarves. Without the use of law. I am on the Xenophobia challenge, and migrants cannot be accepted. By any means. So i've been sacrificing the to armok. By starving them to death. But i want them to be like, tortured, slaved. Is there any way i can *assign* a dwarf to a restraint?

Also, any better ideas to sacrificing those damn spies?

Impossible, dwarves cannot be purposely assigned to chains. The closest you can get is to trap them in a cage with a webbed cage trap.

If you really don't want any migrants then you can do a few things:
1)Lower your pop cap in dinit. Once you have reached your pop cap you can either wait for the liaison to come and leave successfully or run the DFHack command that checks it.
2)If you really don't want any migrants you can remove [ACTIVE_SEASON:AUTUMN] from the dwarven entity, which will stop all immigrants, though it also will have the effect of stopping all dwarven traders as well.

That's not very creative!
There's all kinds of things you could do.  Drop them into a pit (by pulling a retracting bridge out from under them) and insert all kinds of fun into the pit.  Wild animals.  Captured goblins.  Spear traps attached to levers or pressure plates.  Occasional splashes of water or magma from above, with a drain, so they have to keep dancing or running away from the liquid.  Garbage falling on their heads (designate the pit as a garbage dump).  If you really want that prison or torture cell look, you could make the walls out of iron bars.

Iron fortifications surrounding a central area where all your migrants go. Let your own population gaze with scorn upon the unwashed outsider scum! Let them suffer in plain sight, for all to see!

For fun, maybe get a whole wave of migrants inside there and throw in only one or two food/booze. The fittest and fastest will survive. Wait for there to be only one dwarf left, then grant the champion entrance. For added fun, have the "winner" spend a year and a day in a walled-off chamber, with enough food for a year but nothing else to do but sit and meditate upon the privilege he's been given. Once he joins the fort proper, suspend all labors and throw a party, welcoming the newcomer! Bonus points if you mod ethics to feast on the ones who didn't make it!

Or funnel all your migrants into a danger room with single upright training spears set to repeat. After one year, any survivors get in, and they'll be Legendary dodgers/fighters/etc by that time.
