Parrot's Revenge?
« on: January 26, 2013, 10:50:45 am »

I captured a Grey Parrot in my Cage Trap, (In a Wet/Moist Jungle or W/E they're called)  and wanted to train it purely for the knowledge, as I had done with many primates that lived in the area.  Its friends kept swimming through my sewers just to hang around its cage, so I said "screw it" and let it go.  It had a scar from a marksdwarf shooting it once when it got caught, and now it hangs outside my fort with its buddy, it's been there for a few years.  I've already made a few species extinct, and I don't want these guys to go extinct as well.  Any way to make them leave the map without killing them?  I don't mind hurting them, as long as one escapes.

There aren't any ways to get creatures to leave the map through force. You can capture them all and that will trigger the next group of animals to come onto the map, or you can kill them all and that will also trigger the next group of animals. Or you can just keep waiting and eventually they should leave.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Cage em and release them near the edge of the map. Send some dwarves after to attack and drive them off but don't give the dwarves weapons. Some suggestions.

There several species of Parrots. Maybe as many as tens, what will it hurt if there is one less?

You only have 1 Urist McMarksdwarfsquad #3, he needs his practice...
