It doesn't matter how much you've offered in the past, once "Becoming the Capital" (or, in previous versions, "The Incoming King") becomes available, you need to offer 5000☼ (or 10000☼) more goods before the King will show up.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

That stinks. Any idea why the caravans stopped coming? I'm guessing a diplomat got killed, but I don't know what effect that would actually have.

There was a point where I un-forbade the whole exterior map and my dwarves suddenly pulled in what felt like a full caravan of random crap.  I'd say it is not impossible that a caravan (the caravan) got stuck somewhere and died rather than left the map.  That said, all of the documentation indicates that that won't stop the caravans from coming.  The civ screen still shows em alive, and the Queen alive.

Shrug.  More souls for Armok.

Dang, this makes me rethink building a volcano fortress. At first I disliked the lack of flat space outdoors, but the amount of stone and dirt layers for playing around with or for channeling and building massive underground structures seems worth it. Also, easy access to magma without a pumpstack is a plus, I'm too lazy.

It's awesome eyecandy right there. Why not upload the save before abandoning it? Seems a shame to let it all go to waste.

How old is the fort by now, anyway?

Thanks!  14 years old at this point.  Wouldn't know where to upload it, but if you want a copy I don't mind.

I think the overall best choice is Dwarf Fortress File Depot, for all your dwarf fortress file sharing needs, probably in the pregenerated world section. Uploading might take a while, or so I've heard. I haven't used it yet myself.
