I honestly don't see what the problem is. It's an ugly thread, but that's its only offense. Quote pyramids interrupting conversation are bad, but this one is a distinct part of the conversation. Yes, this is a thread that should probably not exist, but it's not doing any harm, and I don't see it going anywhere that will lead to harm; it's probably going to die soon anyway.
And what was the Chaos thread? I don't recall that.

The original idea was that I have noticed through a bit of the threads on the Bay12 Forums; they go from the main Op to something outrageous. I should really name it what kind of madness that goes on in Bay 12 threads at this point because I was trying to really look into all the nuances of what makes Bay 12 Forums a !!FUN!! place to discuss ideas, things, and most of all DWARVES!!!!

Be better to rename it the shitposting thread; that's all that anyone got out of the OP and all that's going on now. We can't discuss derailing because there's nothing to discuss. People start talking about other topics than the one in the OP. It's how conversation works. If it's causing a problem the OP can tell them to stop, but a lot of derailing is accepted (to a degree) because it's usually discussion like any other. Topic finished.

How did this not seem like a bad idea from the very start? Leaving aside that's it's a completely unabashed spamthread (Note that I quite strongly disagree with the people who whine about shitposting and the happy/rage/wtf threads), there's no point to having it. There is absolutely nothing here to deter people from derailing other threads (thus invalidating the intent behind it), only a venue that inevitably leads to the sort of behavior that gets threads locked.
