Is there a way to catch the rain in a bassin?
And is there rain on every map?

No, there is no way to use rain.  Its not good for anything.  You should really just turn weather off to boost your FPS.

But you can lick raindrops to satisfy your thirst in adv. mode.
And I think that the weather affects biome temperature too a bit, so I usually plai with it for more fun and realism.

Actually I do see a method(only a theory),during the summer dig into the side of a murky pool and place a pit on the other side of the resulting tunnel,also it may be wise to have a drain tunnel available as well.
code:

lvl-1
++++ ++++++
~~~+++.../+
~~~,,,...,,-fortress
~~~+++...++
++++ ++,++
     +,+
    off map
lvl-2
    ++++++
    +,,,/+
    +,,,++
    +,,,+
    +++++
~=murky pool
+=cave wall
,=cave floor
/=stairs
.=open space
Rain doesn't generate any actual fluid; it makes things wet but not enough to make 1/7 water, let alone anything that'd flow. Murky pools are meant to tell the game what to replenish with rainfall, but that feature hasn't been implemented yet.
Then why do murky pools fill up?
I think it just happens spontaneously on season change or something.
So then it fills up,the water flows into the pit and voila you caught the 'rain'.
Season change water might be less remarkable but it is something.
I'll test this,I have a fort going that would benefit from this if it works.
murky pools don't refill as such right now.
What happens is they freeze in the winter and they lose information about how much water was stored in them, so it defaults to 7/7 when the ice melts. If you drain the water out totally it won't ever come back (unless you cheat). This works with any water source that freezes - when it thaws it will default to 7/7 no matter what level it was at before.
Odd,well when(if) Toady fixes this then I say my idea holds true.
Too bad I won't be able to have this kind of system for my current fort,oh well back to mining the ultra long tunnel to the brook.
i would really like to see some way of collecting rain water from a "Basin" connected to a pipe which flows into your fortress.
Also some way to melt ice into water. Maybe once dwarfs move a block of ice inside, it automatically melts when its dropped, it creates a 2/2 block of water.
Something like that anyways.
Toady has some work too do  :D
I think every season change, there's a chance that they'll heal their wounds. So if you're lucky, they'll live.
Unless they're thirsty and it's still early in the season.
