Is something like [PET_SLAVE] possible?

so there's [PET] and [PET_EXOTIC]... seems like any entity can use a [PET] if it's present around their civ, and anything with [USE_ANY_PET_RACE] can use both tags. Plus there's whatever the new training system does on top of that, familiarity and whatnot... not really sure how that works really.Then there's the [USE...] tags that specify good/evil/subterranean creature availability...

Can any of these be fiddled with to create a new class of slave pets only accessible by certain entities? I feel like just turning all current critters into [PET]s and giving [PET_EXOTIC] to slaves while reserving [USE_ANY_PET_RACE] for my slave traders would have worked in the past, but that the new training system will end up dribbling slaves into my other entities that shouldn't have them. I'm guessing its not as simple as just throwing in [PET_SLAVE] tags... would [SLAVE] and [USE_SLAVE_ANIMALS] do anything?

You can add the [PET] tag to individual creature castes.

As above says, adding pet to a caste will allow them to be enslaved.  Add a slave caste with pet.  Maybe there is even an interaction to change their caste from a free caste to slave in the case of 'capture'. . .

The problem is not making sentients able to be enslaved... the problem is preventing EVERYONE from taking advantage. My intention is to make ogres/minotaurs/trolls/etc. enslavable but only used by slave-keeping peoples. The reason I'm looking for a novel pet tag is to allow it to be only called by certain civs... though if there's another way to do this from another angle, I'm all ears!

Though I guess what you're saying is... instead of trying to have slavemasters grab other critters as slaves, just create castes within their population that represent said slaves, right? That... would kind of work, just wasn't really what I was hoping to accomplish. I imagine doing that would interfere with those castes ability to breed as well; you'd just have the breeding females of the whole entity popping out proper citizens or slaves willy nilly instead of staying in discreet breeding pools, right? :/

Depends on how you do it.  If you dontate $50,000 and ask reaaaal he may accommedate your request. . .

True; any female creature can technically give birth to any other caste of it's species.

There is currently no real slave function in DF. Toady will probably have goblins exploit slaves more in the future.

Hmm. If I recall correctly, Goblins use trolls for slave labor- I cannot recall the exact way the raws are set up on that, unfortunately, but if you use that you can probably set up any given race as a slave-entity. It should also in theory be possible to clone, say, 'Humans' into two entries- One as a civilization, and one as a wild animal which you can capture and tame.

That said, from memory I recall these as being useless for domestic slaves- The only real benefit is if you add 'Trainable' in, which would allow you to train them as hunting and war slaves. If you could figure out a way to give them arms and armor, they would probably even be handy to have around. Well, that or mod them to have, like, huge claws or something...

Hmm. I think I have an idea.
