Well independent devs have their expenditures too.
Altho you'd think indie devs would be a bit more forgiving on the matter.

That's debatable. We like to think of the indie scene as all cuddly and warm, but it can be cutthroat exactly because of its size and the vulnerability of developers. I'm talking the developers who haven't had their first undeniable hit or had their title sell like crazy on Steam.

Really the whole dependence on digital distribution by indie developers will eventually lead to more of this I think. As opposed to setting up your own webspace....paying for your own bandwidth....billing...user accounts....art assets for it.

Certainly the original breach of contract and the key blacklisting threat weren't anything good, but on the other side the dev not seeing any money coming from the sales of his game inside that kind of bundle is not any better.

I wonder if the other devs from that bundle that didn't breached the contract saw any of the money coming.

There shouldnt be any shocked that this has happened, or is happening. Its not like 'Indie' game makers are some noble saint fighting the good fight against mainstream-ism-stuff. They're just folks making games, a lot of them really shitty, that shouldnt be charging money for at all. And of course there going to be over inflated ego and asshats among them.

I'm willing to bet there more asshat 'Indie' developers then humble folks.

EDIT: And I'm sure most of them have a loose understanding of law.

There've been good ones, such as Terraria, Magicka, etc. I mostly rely on hearing about them on these forums or on IRC.

That WWI game that looked like a modern Age of Empires 2 (The Entente: Battlefields World War) looked rather promising.

But yeah, not cool what happened.

Circumstances aside I can't say I'm sad or surprised to see an indie bundle go away.

We could go into a long list of reasons why but none of them have been as good as the humbles.
