XCOM ...the boardgame

FFG is currently developing a boardgame with the licensed XCOM Theme. It is solo-playable and is actually an hybrid game, since the AI and that stuff is implemented via a Web app or a tablet/smartphone app if you have such a device. Looks pretty cool and innovative to me....!

The AI part reminds me of Space Alert :) Looking forward to it, but mostly I've seen people complain about having to use an app, and how they did away with tactical combat and focused on the strategic aspect.

Either way, I'm still curious :D

no, it is not out....I think the plan is to release it end of the year or so.

Yes, usually I play (soilitaire) boardgames to get away from electronic stuff...and in the meantime there are some cool paper-AI boardgames available, which often beat computer games AI or at least they give that impression. For the mass market these AI systems maybe to difficult to get into....
