That has nothing to do with the location of your files.  I suppose if you corupted you data by copy/pasting without deleting...

But nope, make smaller worlds/download them from dffd

When creating a world, you're saving megabytes of data over USB. That will take some time.

It always takes a while for me to off-load a world, and I don't uses USB. Sometimes my computer warns me that the program's frozen during that! but as long as it don't crashes ( usually due to memory issue ) it'll get there eventually. Though I don't know how USB would act with that kind of thing, being aware of flash chips' write being much slower than read speed.

It's probably just a slow USB connection. Personally if I'm using something like dropbox or a USB to move DF around I find the best thing to do is copy DF onto the target computer, run DF from the computer itself, and then copy back when I'm done. It removes the requirement for the game to constantly be uploading/downloading from your USB.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

yeah, copying all files to target computer works, and yeah, its problably a slow usb connection, offloading units goes like... 10 each time, and on target computer it jumps 100 each frame, and doesent stop responding at sync folders
