33 year old children
« on: November 17, 2012, 02:00:04 am »

I was meandering about the descriptions of one of my peasant-turned-miner dwarves today, and wondered if he had any family members who survived the terror of a (long overdue) vile force of darkness. I found that he didn't, but he did have an older sister who was marked as a child. He is 32.

Somehow she is still marked as a child even though she is 33 years old. She seems to fit the fitting image of an adult whom the dwarves would call a child, I suppose. Is this common? Can it be weaponized?
Could it be possible for a dwarven child to die of old age?

Is the sister not a migrant? And have you fortress been running for more than 21 years?

It's pretty much a minor bug that external events get stopped, if they migrant, they'll grow up the next spring/year ( I forget which, I think ages are checked seasonally, thusly the cluster of old age deaths ).

This is a case of a dwarf that was a child at the end of world-gen migrating to your fort long after the fact. Such things won't happen in the next release, at least not so drastically.

Ages get check on each birthday, so whenever that is, she'll grow up real fast.

Children you rescue shouldn't behave like rabid beasts.  I guess your regular companions shouldn't act like rabid beasts either.
I think that's a little more impossible than I'm likely to have time for.

when I saw the name of this thread, I expected to see a report of say... a dwarf sitting in his mothers basement playing modern warfare and calling other 33 year old children names.
