armored troglodyte ?!!science!!?
« on: November 15, 2012, 11:55:39 pm »

How would one make them wear armor?

I've already made them tameable and I notice many of them have armor skills, would this mean they could wear armor? How could I make them be able to join my military?

Research must be done!

I think they are animals and you can't equip them manually.
Once i added CAN_LEARN (or both CAN_LEAR and CAN_SPEAK) to cats - this made them learn social and fighting skills. I didn't played that fortress for a long time, probably if i did i'd get cat baron.

... -Can- you elect a cat to Baron if it has [CAN_LEARN]? because that would be sweet.

Is it possible to edit the raws and make a bodypart covering the rest, make it metal, and call it armor?

Yes, the same way hair is added to the head or turtle shells are added to the upper body in the current raws.

IIRC it must have CAN_SPEAK too. You can't do it directly, but I've heard a story about an animal man being elected by dwarves to a noble position. He was bought from elves and because of some sapient tags and being unable to be assigned to job he was nothing left to do but socialize.

Hmm, i'm gonna again edit cats in my current game so they would learn skills and i'll check if some can become a baron in this version. It would be fun to see a cat tantruming because of broken mandate or lack of royal rooms )

That sounds super exploity if you ask me but to teach their own.

They have EQUIPS meaning they can wield and wear items. Other than through wrestling I'm not sure you can give them items.

Hey you dont have to make it candy armor bone or copper would be beleivable if they have armor skills already.
The game is not you know finished or particularly sane, it may be sentient by now though.
