Why don't I have a Mayor?
« on: November 14, 2012, 09:25:17 pm »

I have a population of 55, 54, but I don't have a mayor.  Why not?

I think it has to be 50 adults, so if you have any children that might be it.

It also takes a small amount of time (sometimes longer than a month) for the dwarves to decide to elect one.  Typically your first mayor will be your previous expedition leader, then regular (but invisible to you) 'elections' will be held.  If your current mayor keeps the position you'll be told nothing about the 'new mayor time yet?' check... if your old mayor had any mandates your notice will be their sudden end (without penalties)

Elections are held on the 17th of Hematite - if you didn't reach 50 population until after that point, you may need to wait another year.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

In my latest fort, the population reached 80 without a mayoral election being held, I had to re-assign the expedition leader before the dwarves finally elected a mayor.
