To answer the question; yes, they are art. Skill and effort applied in one great show of human creativity and imagination. Great kudos to all!

What? LW's avatar never changes. We have always been at war with Eastasia.

I do appreciate the MoMA's stance that video games are art. I'm sure many people will debate otherwise, but the boundaries of the definition of art have always been pushed by revolutionaries. I'm also excited for the MoMA's apparent intent to involve Toady in the creation of the exhibit, as well as "players" - I wonder if by this they mean the community, or if they'll openly ask for submissions, or something else.

In any case, more exposure (and you can't buy publicity like the MoMA) is always a good thing. Hopefully this translates into more donations for the Toad.

Finished: Weatherwires, the Last Mountainhome. A tragic mix of Children of Men, City of Ember, and, uh, magma.
Stymied: Correspondence from Syrupurns, a prematurely ended narrative, told through annual updates.
In Progress: Roomcarnage, a fortress clinging to life beneath a haunted glacier.

I'm afraid it doesn't change. Nor is your computer actually turned on.

This is all happening in your brain.

Good day!

I never really understood any logic in excluding videogames. Perhaps some I guess an arguement could be made, but the entire genre is just nonsense.

It is just such a no duh thing that I never even bothered comming up with an arguement.

If I get a mention for creating the "program" (or anything else), my life will be complete.

I really hope this makes DF more popular (for donations), and gets it recognized as the work of art that it really is.
