How did my entire outfit get a treason charge?
« on: November 06, 2012, 02:47:11 pm »

So I've been playing my 'get a squad of every profession' style game.  I first found the CCS safehouse so I could juice farm without the pesky murder raps & ensuing heat.  I'd been juice farming the Bar & Grill pretty hard for about a year, leaving mountains of dead CCS vigilantes, without committing any major crimes, just some B&E and prostitution charges, many of which I beat in court no problem.  Also liberated some sweatshopers, child workers & CEO castle slaves.  Suddenly I notice everyone in my entire operation (+100 liberals!) has one treason charge! (most had 100% clean raps before that)  I never even went to the ministry of love or did anything besides break displays at the nuclear plant and steal some gear from the army base, didn't touch the armory either.  No bank jobs, no prison breaks, no hacking, nothing more major than a few incidental murders, had to  kill a lab tech and an arresting death squad officer once or twice.

Is it possible that I recruited someone with a prior treason charge and it spread to everyone for harboring the dude?  Does LCS ever give new recruits treason charges like it does with occasional lesser charges?  I've recruited a few gang bangers and army vets, could they have brought it in?  I first noticed the treason charge on a liberal army vet I recruited, but I'm not sure if everyone had the treason charge by then because I figured the veteran already had the treason charge, as if for protesting wars or the like, so I didn't check everyone else's rap sheet.

Really confused about this one.  The heat is slowly building and now its only a matter of time before I'll have to paint the police station red, like I was hoping to avoid when I started this game because I didn't want to start the liberal massacres anyone until I had a recruited a bunch of super charged mutants.  Guess now it's time to go mass mutant shopping.

I've never had a charge migrate from one person to another--more likely it's a nasty learning experience into LCS' crimes code.

Treason comes from breaking into the MilBase armory, any attempt to hack the Supercomputer (successful or not), and printing government secrets.  I'd guess that breaking into the nuclear plant armory would also be Treason, rather than the Terrorism one gets by messing with the reactor.

OK, you stole stuff from the army base.  Of itself that wouldn't be a problem, but I'm guessing that's the culprit via the Secret Documents route.  Some questions to walk through the matter:

1) Do you have a Liberal Guardian?

2) If so, do you publish Special Editions?

3) If so, did you recently, or have you ever, published "Secret Documents"?
(This is good for a Treason charge.  Secret Documents are classified government files, and sometimes found laying around the MilBase and IntHQ.  If you ran a story about the CIA doing something and have never been to the IntHQ, you nigh-certainly published Secret Documents.)

4) If so, was anyone not located at a safehouse with a Printing Press at the time you published the documents?
(The Treason from publishing state secrets attaches to everyone at any/every facility with a printing press, even if they weren't Writing News when you published--special editions operate independently of actual news-writers.)

5) If so, did the people away from the presses get charged with Treason?
(Consistency check: if someone has never been at a press but is charged anyway, time for a new hypothesis.)

Hmm, I have a printing press but I've never published any special editions.  All my liberals have always stayed at the same safehouse.  I'm positive I've stolen secret documents from the army base, though all I've done with them is sell them at the pawn shop.  Which actually would make 100% sense for a treason charge, but does the code allow for that?

I don't think you can get a Treason charge for selling the secret documents. Since you have the press and have had the documents, my best guess is that you accidentally published some secret documents. I can't 100% rule out the possibility that there's a way to get mass Treason charges that isn't coming to mind for me, but my initial thought was the same as KA101's, and this still seems the most likely, even if it was unintentional.

Ya I guess that's what must have happened.  Gotta watch that pesky button mashing when I have 60 people all repairing clothing.
