Look upon the world and despair mortal!

As for something useful-ish, eh... nothing lasts forever, but life is still worth living.  If you can't find anything worthwhile... perhaps, just live for yourself.  Do stuff that pleases you.  Take the punches like the wind.  It may rile you up or make you despair even more.  But, remember, it ain't gonna matter anymore at some point in the future.  Its only a big deal if you make it out to be.

Of course, living for yourself doesn't necessarily mean other people are not important.  You are a selfish person after-all and if hanging with another person or even helping people makes ya feel good, ain't no harm in doing that.  It is all about you, so if people fit in the equation...

Well, here's some fun news for you.

I passed that point of "the world fucking sucks" a while back and I recently realized something...
who. fucking. cares.
Live YOUR life, have YOUR fun, deal with YOUR business, and make the best damn effort YOU can to make OTHERS lives better when possible, even if it's opening the door for someone who has their hands full, do something.

Pretty much you can sum it up in three bullet points.

• Do what makes you happy, just don't step on others lives if you can help it (unless they would do the same to you, then protect your own shit)
• Help others when you can, as long as it doesn't brutally ruin your own life. (sounds cold, but ruining the next 15 years of your life in exchange for somebody else's is just fucking dumb.)
• Enjoy yourself, and apply yourself. Work at Wal-Mart? smile and help every single customer in the damn store to the best extent you possibly can, and be happy about it dammit.

Words are weird.  Your form of not caring is very similar to my form of caring.

It confuses me as well.

basically by saying "Ah well, the world sucks might as well make the best of it while I'm here" I seem to have come to the same conclusion others do using religion or similar concepts.
which leads me to conclude that "Take care of your own shit, help others when you can, putting your all into everything" is just a logical conclusion of how to live life.

I think that you're making an arbitrary distinction between "reality" and your own consciousness. Your thoughts, fears, and desires are not any less real because they don't exist as a physical object.

As for your cynicism and lack of faith in humanity, I think you are simply focusing on the wrong thing. You have no
control over even one other person, let alone "the human race", but you do have control over yourself; if you tie your own happiness to that which you cannot control you are bound to be miserable. Identify what you value in explicit terms through honest introspection (we all lie to ourselves at times) and pursue those values.

Don't let yourself succumb to nihilism. There are things worth doing, experiencing, and having in life; you have to identify what they are for you and have the courage to pursue them. Pay no mind to anyone who mocks that striving; they are not on the side of life happiness.

Much of the time I live my life inside my mind anyway, living through videogames, books, or my own writings.
But recently I've noticed that my life needs aren't being fully met (Just like in Victoria 2!) and perhaps I should feed myself sometime.
You know, after the next siege...

Reality doesn't concern nor interest me, as I find everything and everyone ever so boring.
When I go out into the world (forced D:) I lose hope in the human race and became more cynical and less idealistic about our possibilities in the future.

..Maybe I should just be a hermit that never leaves his home when I grow up? (I'm turning 18 tomorrow, yay!)

I feel the exact same way. And so are the other intellegent humans  . Don't give up on humans to much though, they can make cool stuff with enough work. Look at Toady One for example
