Workaround: Gypsum Plaster stockpile
« on: October 24, 2012, 01:33:57 am »

Here is a not-so-obvious trick to make stockpiling Gypsum Plaster somewhat possible  :)

(the problem being that there's no stockpile setting to store it by itself, because it's classified as "Boxes and Bags" which places it in the same stockpile with other bags, and storing it in a hospital is not viable because of the hospital hoarding bug)

As noted above, Gypsum bags are classified as empty bags. If you put Gypsum in only one type of bags (for example, plant cloth bags), you can then set a stockpile to only accept plant cloth bags, and dwarves will place Gypsum Plaster there. Put the stockpile into the hospital, and simply don't make more plant cloth bags than you need for that.

If you  make the plaster yourself, set a bag stockpile to Give bags to the kiln, and it will only use the bags you want.

If you get gypsum from trading with caravans, this will be more difficult (simply Dump unsuitable bags of plaster, and unforbid if the situation requires more than you have in the stockpile).

edit: oops, wrong forum. This was meant to go into Dwarf Mode Discussion.
