Could a Cursed Blade creature be possible?
« on: October 14, 2012, 09:27:12 pm »

I usually never find a cavern deep enough in adventure mode to acquire an adamantine sword, so I thought that some sort of flying blade might be a good idea.

-The creature would have two body parts; the "Sword" and the "Cursed Gem".
-The Sword would be an adamantine limb that has natural attacks as close to those of swords as possible. Ideally, it would also function as the main body of the creature.
-The Gem would be a small object that would function as a brain; that way, you cut off the gem and the sword "dies".
-Once killed, the corpse would be an adamantine longsword, in the same manner as a bronze colossus dropping a statue instead of a corpse.
-The Gem could possibly have some sort of syndrome-inducing sting or dust, making the fight that much tougher.
-The Cursed Blade would be a very rare megabeast, so you could have one pop up at your fortress as well as have one be an assigned kill in adventure mode.

So would this be possible, or am I just being fanciful?

I am very proud and happy to announce that this isn't just 100% possible, but in fact actually pretty easy.
