Maybe someone could mod in booze created from sliver barbs that give dwarves noxious and obscuring flatulence...

You could replace the ink with an explosion of dust and appropriate sound effects in the interaction. It's completely possible! The dust will send creatures flying like a cave-in (including the source creature), and the source creature will hide.

I came to this thread really hoping to see something like,
'Hot crustacea just waiting for your call! Ready and waiting for you to shoot your ink.
Soft, jiggly... translucent, why not give our squid a try?'
