I'm kind of surprised I've never seen this idea before (though granted I've been known to take lengthy absences from the board).

So, superpowered dwarves. I've done a pair of really simple types just by making attributes defined by caste and giving the bricks buffed strength and toughness and the speedsters buffed agility. I would have given them a better speed, but I'm not sure if I could just give them a stated SPEED token if the rest of the entry doesn't touch it without giving the other castes the standard SPEED, which I was unsure of.

Without further ado, here's what I've done.

So yeah, if you spot a glaring flaw, let me know. I haven't tested these yet either, and should probably give them caste names, but this is more a proof of concept than anything. If you want to throw your hat into the ring with some other superpowered castes, I'd be pleased, because then I get credit for spawning a good idea without actually having to do as much hard work.
Oh, and do tell me if this has been done before.

It works that way, though it can be done with a whole lot less tags. Just define the standart ones above the castes and just the ones that deviate inside the castes.

Who told you it hasn't been done? All old verions of genesis had different castes with different abilities, stats and names :).

My own flawed and limited experience and memory.
Although Genesis had a slightly different flavour, in that all dwarves had their own thing, while here it's rare.

This is X-Men! It is different!

The goblin strikes the dwarf in the head with the iron mace, knocking off his mask!
The dwarf's eyebeams blast the goblin to pieces!

This needs to be a possibility.

If there is a way for clothing or armour to affect a dwarf's innate abilities, I'm not clever enough to do it. I will probably work on this some more, though, so look forward to that maybe if you want.

I suppose you could add a caste with the MATERIAL_EMISSION interaction for dragonfire if you felt like burning your entire fortress down after a week.

Oh yeah, I had obsidian dwarves shooting firballs initially, and you may guess what made me to nerf that. Forest fires were killing FPS and everything on surface. Forest fires caused by a dwarf spotting a mouse.
