Your refuse stockpiles

Hi guys, usually when i have a butcher shop setup, i have a corpse stockpile and a refuse stockpile nearby, and a garbage dump near that. I like to save the bones, shells, and hair, so i have a separate stockpile take from that stockpile. However, the remnants of the butcher stockpile seem to pile up on me at times, and i find myself having to dump whats left every so often. Is there a way to setup dwarves to dump everything else besides the bones shells and hair automatically? Its not a huge deal, but I would like to not have to worry about checking that stockpile to make sure its not full, so as  not to clutter my butcher shop.

You need to figure out how to do a quantum minecartpile.

XXX                     O = Track Stop

Just a quick rundown. For that setup above, build a Track Stop that dumps south. Set the two refuse piles to take the same kind of things. Set up a 'h'auling 'r'oute that 's'tarts on the Track Stop. Assign it to take the same types of refuse. Assign it to take from the top stockpile. Assign a minecart when you're done. Instant quantum stockpile, never worry about rubbish filling up ever again.

I have two separate stockpiles. One above ground that accepts only unusable materials (nervous tissue, vermin carcasses, and anything rotten) and another one next to the relevant workshops that takes bone, hair, fresh hide, horn, etc...

Hair can be spun at a Farmer's Workshop into thread.  It can't be woven into cloth, but makes great cheap sutures.

I have one stockpile inside, which accepts everything usable, and one outside, which takes everything not usable.  The stuff in the topside one rots out every so often so I usually don't have to worry about stockpile space up there unless a mass butchering goes on.

Due to not wishing FPS death and space constrictions based on this, i use DFhack to periodically convert a stockpile into one tile on the stockpile freeing up the rest of the space. If you don't mind that wee bit of cheating to make your game playable in later years (When goods and refuse are spewing out of every orficie) i'd suggest you adopt this too. Or minecart quantum stockpile if you want to do it the hard way.

I'm very lazy.

That's been fixed. They make it into cloth now.

No it hasn't.  I have several animal hair thread sitting in my stockpiles right now and it will never be woven no matter how many times you choose "Weave Hair/Wool into Cloth".

Yeah that was bad testing. It works in Masterwork and it works in Vanilla if the animal can naturally be shaved but that's it.

Honestly, I look it as a feature. That way I know I will always have some thread hanging around for the hospital.
