Does DF require .NET ?
« on: September 30, 2012, 08:34:45 am »

howdy hey

my mouse drivers broke my .NET 4.0 files (sortkey.nlp is missing, can't get it fixed without reinstalling windows but I've had to reinstall windows half a dozen times this last couple months and can't be arsed)

DF 0.34.11 won't run (crashes on the BAY12 title screen - gets through 'Beyond' and then the rest is garbled garbage)

nor does the lazy newb pack run

everything else (except tribes :s) runs fine

thanks for your time : )

Have you waited after the B12 title screen?
If you resize the window during the intro the intro will be garbage, but after that it should be just fine.

The lazy newb pack requires .Net Df shouldn't need it though.

Can't you just redownload and reinstall Net?

Try this

In 'Dwarf Fortress\data\init'

edit init.txt and change it so it looks like this

Code: [Select]
Change this to skip the wonderful intro movies.

[INTRO:NO]

If it still crashes you have bigger problems.
