And to make up for the ridiculous simplicity of Rice Krispy Treats, I will now post this video on how to make puffed rice:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joy3prllz3s
And this link: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Puffed-Rice

Plus, there are potential (and healthier) variations you can make of those by substituting the Rice Krisies with any kind of puffed cereal grain, which I've noticed seems to have become fairly common at grocery stores. (Look in the cereals organic section, if your store has one)

It's also surprisingly easy to make marshmallows as well, especially the kind that you plan on melting, since they don't really need to be very puffy;
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/homemade-marshmallows-recipe/index.html (This link also has a VERY nice video, if you click on the picture.)

And I could always get into how to make butter, but that'd be pointless if you didn't have access to raw milk, which is illegal to sell, which is another thread and discussion entirely...

EDIT: Mostly surprised no one has commented. Did I win the thread? Also I've never made it; I simply found an old cookbook, brought it to the bathroom for reading material, and laid it open to read a random page and there she was in all her glory. Then this thread happened days later and I knew what must be done. The internet had to know starting with B12, home of the beer cooking dwarf.

Delicious Brown Sugar-Walnut Cake

This was improvised out of a brown sugar cake recipe not two hours ago, and just popped out of the oven. It is deliciousness- even better, ridiculously easy deliciousness- and makes two (2) cakes. Originally I just had the brown sugar cake recipe and thought "You know what would make this even better...? Walnuts." And they did!
Beat together until a smooth liquidish thing:

4 cups dark brown sugar (we tried light brown sugar cake one time and it...was funny, so use dark brown)
4 cups flour
4 teaspoons cardamom
4 teaspoons ginger
4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 pound melted butter
4 eggs
1.5 cups buttermilk (a good cheat is to take one and a half cups of milk and add one to two teaspoons of some sort of acid: white wine vinegar is best but if you've run out like I did lemon juice will work in a pinch)
2 cups walnuts

Beat them together in your mixer for a few minutes, pour into bundt cake pans, pop them in the oven at 350 F for an hour or so. Take out, enjoy the deliciousness.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Beer soup

... It's thickened beer, with eggs and milk...
It's a funny idea, but doesn't really sound all that tasty...

I feel like necroing this. I'd put down a recipe for Finnish pulla but I don't have one.

Does anyone have any interesting rye bread recipes?

Also relevant: I really want to find out what would happen if I added a liberal dash of brandy to the julekaga dough...
