Werecreature's Victim
« on: September 25, 2012, 05:51:15 am »

I had a werecreature come through and he managed to severely maul one of my dwarfs - a hapless fisherdwarf.
I don't know whether he is afflicted or not so I've built a specific room for him.
How do you assign a dwarf (which hasn't done anything illegal) to a specific room?

PTW

If this dwarf can still move, I suppose you can lock it in a room by baiting it to an assigned bed.  Maybe draft him and station him somewhere, THEN lock the door.

I'm not an expert on this, but maybe try creating a burrow and assigning him to it?

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Turns out another got battered too xD
The fisherman's left knee and hip are broken and the newly discovered stoneworker's legs are torn open.
Should I assign them a bedroom and then lock the door? - let them starve?

Hmm...what do you want to do?  Find out if they're infected, or kill them?

-Kill

Lock the door and forget about them.  They'll be treated as an archaeological discovery in several years

-Observe

Well I dunno.  Can they feed themselves in their injured state?

If Yes: Just lock some food in there.

If No: ....lock a dwarf in there who you're willing to sacrifice.  Place twice as much food, and also some sort of water source, if you can make one ( not really sure ).  The sacrificed dwarf will feed and nurse them, and if the werebeast is unleashed, at least you'll only lose one dwarf.

Sorry if this sounds really basic.  It might not even work.  But it's all I got.

How do you find out if they are infected? It's not saying anything about a bite in their info :S
Oh and never mind about the stoneworker, her throat is torn open and pretty much every joint in her body is gushing blood - she won't survive long I don't think

Wait till the moon is right.  Then you'll find out.

The stoneworker bled to death and the fisherdwarf indeed turned, but was put down by a swift swing of a hammer into the face, now just a lot of blood in one of the bedrooms...

That would've only worked if the Dwarf was uninfected. Not to mention they can bust down doors when they feel like it.

Well I dunno.  Can they feed themselves in their injured state?
They wouldn't have needed to eat or drink if they were infected. It resets every time they transform.

Check the combat logs. If the werebeast bites, tearing into the muscle layer they're confirmed for infection. Bites don't always equal infection - sometimes things like clothes get in the way, and it only causes bruising/broken bones.

Funny enough with the info you gave, I would've thought the stoneworker was infected and the fisherdwarf was as you said, just savagely mauled.

I slight correction: They won't starve if you seal them away, but they will stroll in your legendary dinning room from time to time if they have a path.

As for infection, yes, check the combat logs, but those who got their bodyparts torn off are likely not to be infected, so keep them in separate chamber from those who got just bitten.
