The death of a bronze colossus...
« on: September 24, 2012, 09:08:02 pm »

So, was playing around with a militia commander who I had just newly equipped with my Fortress' first set of candy equipment; in this case I wanted to go with a candy short sword, and armor. And after some success with him hewing down a couple of released goblin or troll prisoners in one on one duels, I decided to try him on a bronze colossus. It was a long fight that ended when my commander shattered the colossus' upper body, and then beheaded him. It was rather dwarfy.

However, upon death, the colossus turned into a...masterwork bronze statue of a giant leopard gecko O.o I assume that's supposed to happen? Kill a bronzy and get a random masterwork bronze statue?

Kinda makes sense, though I'd rather be able to just butcher or melt the body for nine meeleeon bronze bars that I have no clue what I would do with, lol. Anyways, thought I'd tell a brief story and ask my piddly question. Happy dorfing all!

Currently, no code allows BCs to only turn into statues of themselves, so they turn into random statues.

Ah, thanks for the info, and very cool. It's a decent solution, if not perfect. It's just the first time I'd ever seen one killed, and was surprised to see a statue suddenly appear, lol. Those dorfs!

Yeah, that's supposed to happen. BC's are the only megabeast that leave pre-made trophies.

Is it possible for the statue to be a statue of itself being slain?

Considering the whole "doens't exist until you observe it" thing, yes.

Kind've awkward when you get a statue of a forgotten beast from one... (one month later a forgotten beast shows up and destroys my fort)

*points to my sig*

There was one situation of a BC turning into a statue of a dwarf, I forget who posted it.  IIRC, the statue was of a random dwarf in the fort.
