Alright, you clicked on this.
I was spacing out listening to Lady Gaga and Adele, and had this idea for a game.
The general battle mechanics:
So the basis on this game is some sort of high fantasy battle simulater. It would be a multiplayer game, and battle happened in the following way:
At the beginning of a match, two armies, one of each faction, line up in front of the other. The game randomly assigns the player to an opposing player, to duel eachother in a one-on-one sort of thing. This happens to all players of both sides. Once a player kills his target, the opposing players adjacent to the ones just killed would gain a small boost to.... overall combat power, I guess. The player who just killed his target can choose an ally to help fighting his or her target. The target of the ally you are helping gains a large boost in overall combat ability, and will require some teamwork to take down. If your chosen ally is about to be cleaved in half by the enemy's axe, you can choose either to intercept the attack, or rush at the enemy to try and stop the attack that way, or you could do attempt to push your ally out of the way via epic dive. Normal combat is first-person Elder Scrolls-like attack and block combat. In cases where you are saving an ally, or the enemy is saving your target, a button pressing sequence ensues, and the first person to mess up gets brutally maimed and or killed. Players may randomly get assigned a war pet every battle. This is really just an annoyance for the target you get selected to attack, but it can hurt after a while. Now, if the pet is killed by your target, you go into an apeshit rage mode where you can't really block, but you hit hard enough to break sheilds, and can really only be taken down by decapitation. The guy who just killed your pet will probably die, is what im saying, but you will probably die right after.
How do I make the other guy die?!:
Damage is recorded in a DF style. The amount of blood you have left affects your ability to see, act, and kill in general. If you are stabbed in the heart, well, unless your pet just died, sucks to be you. Getting decapitated kills you, so does getting cut in half, and losing most of your blood. If you are doing a flying battle, getting a wing cut off or unusable, without being saved by an ally, will result in your untimely demise.
How do I win a battle?:
Your team must kill the enemy team, simple. If there are five or more of your teammates active, or, as we would say, alive, the last enemy on the other team turns into a large, very powerful, beast depending on which race/faction they are. I.e, demons turn into bigger demons, that could possibly shoot fire. Humans go berserko-kill-rageo (See: Pets), and the flying holy more-original-than-angels-race turns into, a huge more-original-than-angel thing with power based on how many allies it's lost. Not sure about other flying race in general yet.
What do I get to play as, even though this game will probably never exist?:
There would be a defender class, with a large sheild, very capable of assisting allys in intercepting blows. A melee offensive class with either a weapon and small sheild, or a large, two-handed weapon, and lastly, a ranged class that is tougher to play in melee, which you have to do at the start of a battle, but is adept at aiding allys by stopped the enemie with a bow or other.
Races would include humans, which specialize in aiding allies. The Swarm, which is a bug like race, a quarter of the players of this team get the chance to respawn ONCE. The steriotypical angel class and its dark counterpart, which do aerial battles, which involve more moving around and watching where you get hit. If an angel or darker less friendly angel gets hit in the wings, they start falling, but they can be saved by an ally who will hold them up, both players get a drop to they're movement and offensive abilities, but both can attack and defend at once. and lastly, demons. These are the largest race, size wise, and the most powerful. Two players are assigned to fight each demon, and two players are assigned to PLAY each demon. I don't know how that would work.
Would there, if this game existed, be leveling up?:
Sure, why not, you get cosmetic upgrades like shiny new helms and armor/weapons/sheilds. These do nothing special for you, but make you look better.
That's really all i've got. This is just an idea, I was bored, and needed something to do. So here it is, my idea. I am not in any way working on anything like this, no that is not denial, and no, I don't care if anyone makes this their life long project and doesnt give me credit for the idea.
Discuss.
