A-life
« on: September 05, 2012, 02:14:26 am »

I would like to see more residents living as Dwarf Fortrees.
What would they have been busy. In the morning say, the farmers went to the fields, blacksmiths go to the market to buy ore and smelted into ingots, which in the future will be a weapon or armor... miner goes into the mine for ore and so on.
Player could order things from these people. Say "do me a silver sword," and the next day an order is ready, if it is An opportunity.

Still it would be nice to know the history of man and the city is not going to the legendary mode.

Ha, this is actually exactly what Toady is working on right now. Thing is, there's a lot to be done as the world thus far has been completely static except for the adventurer and what it interacts with. It will be a long time before we see something like that, I think.

You can read more about planned features here: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/dev.html

Related to your suggestion: when this comes into play, it would be nice if you could have non-abstracted waiting. I.e waiting, but while you still retain the normal view and can watch what the NPCs are doing.

Escapism
thanks you! You give me many reply.

Idea for Fortess mode!
to do that would dwarf can independently choose if he had stayed in a closed room without going outside. Let earth digs his hands (though slow, but could be saved. Suppose fighting for his life, but not idle)

So... make dwarves attempt to escape situations where they're stuck underground?

Yes. I think they have to fight for his life to the last. It would be nice if they at least have something to do that would be to get out. This is the same when they accidentally walled up and die because of it, because it does not have time to keep track of everything.
