 Hello I just bought a new pc. And now DF (version 31.25) quits on me during generation of a map. I noticed that it happens everytime the size in the memory goes over 2 GB Ram use. Now in the past I read somewhere on the forum that this is a known issue and there was some solution to it. I unfortunately cannot remember the solution and cannot find.

Anyone whom can put me on the right track?

DF can only use a max of 2gb its running 32bit, need to change a variable to run on LBA 64bit.

how the hell are you using more than 2gb anyways?

This thread should have the utility you need.  I haven't used it, so I can't vouch for its effectiveness or safety I actually just used this to patch my copy of DF, so I will vouch for its safety at least, but I think this is the same utility that the Lazy Newb Pack uses.  The instructions that LNP gives are "Run "Large Address Aware.exe", browse for and select Dwarf Fortress.exe, check the checkbox, and click save."

@Tellemurius: Well I started a map with 9x9 and it happily started and I was watching my Windows Task Manager, as I always do, to see how much RAM it would use and as soon as it hit 2mb's of RAM Dwarffortress terminated itself

I just bought myself a new pc with an Asus: P8Z77-V PRO motherboard, Intel I5 3,4 mhz quadcore and 8 GB of SDram and it is causing havoc with many of my old applications including dwarffortress So I am now in salvage mode.

Well all systems are a GO it seems To test it I loaded a 16x16 map and it came to 3.1 gb of ram and it works

This large memory aware program might be usefull in more apps

Well, for me Large adress aware is a hit and miss , some maps runs perfectly over 2 to 3 Gb , others crashes once you pass the magical number.
