A cave in as soon as I embarked
« on: September 07, 2012, 06:41:54 pm »

One second into this new map and bam!, a part of the tunnel caved in. Has this ever happened to someone before, because it never happened to me. The surface is fine and it happened like 50 levels deep. I gonna take this as a bad omen for this map, but planning and worrying are for elves, lets start digging.

Fairly common. It happens when the tarrain maker creates something that it believes should work, but then physics kicks in and decides it doesn't.

Hopefully my caverns are not a pile of caved in rock.

Yup.  Not seen it happen in ages, but it does happen.

You know, it can get pretty annoying. I once had a embark where I was absolutely spammed with messages, from like 100 z-level below. Finally went away after a while.

Another possible reason is an aquifer pouring out onto a pool of magma, causing it to solidify and collapse repeatedly over time.
