It's 2030, magic came back to the world in 2013, causing mass mayhem because governments lost control as people start to manifest with their magical abilities.
After 5 years the governments across the world started to regain control, they set up schools and institutions where people who have these magical abilities can learn to gain control and use their magic for good. These institutions are not optional. Any magician who manifests and does not tell the authorities is deemed a outlaw and considered dangerous
There are several types of magical schools as well as forbidden schools:
Legal schools:
Aeromancy - Air Magic
Pyromancy - Fire Magic
Terramancy - Earth Magic
Physiomancy - Physical Magic (Working with the body.)
Hydromancy - Water Magic
Prohibited Schools:
Negramancy - Black magic the ability to kill from afar, curse people and other things.
Necromancy - The ability to control the dead and create golems.
Portamancy - The ability to create portals anywhere of any size.
Conjuration - The ability to summon sentient elementals and have minor control of all the elements.
Illegal sub schools which are public knowledge:
Terramantic Animal Control - The ability to control animals and talk to animals.
Offensive Physiomancy - Physiomancy, but using it to harm other bodies.
You are someone who has only just manifested in their magical ability.
Who are you?
Name: Urist Mcnamehere
Sex: Male or Female
Age: Pick a number.
Profession: Previous job.
Manifestation: The school of magic you realize you have manifested with-in you. Pick one, or ask for a roll.
This is a suggestion game, where everyone controls the same character as they manifest their powers, start to gain control and decide what will happen. If you decide to hide their manifestation and experiment in secret, you run the risk of being caught. But if you let the authorities know and let them yourself be taken to a institution, you may not have the freedom you desire.
I'm using lore and ideas from the book, Control Point by Myke Cole, I found it really interesting and thought it might make for a good RPG.
