Bookkeeper not keeping books
« on: September 04, 2012, 05:44:37 am »

How do i train that guy?
I dont have a single dwarf with a single point of XP in bookkeeping, so i just took a random farmer and shoved him into his new office.
Hes not doing his job, how do i make him do it?
I havent found a related labor, only the skill which is still at "0".

Wiki says
Quote
It is trained by a bookkeeper doing the update stockpile records administrative labor.
Where is that, i couldnt locate it?

My preferred method is to wait until their back is turned, then impale them with a pike held by someone else.
Preferrably from a distance.

[N]oble screen, select the Bookkeeper position, and check the [s]ettings. Set the counts however you want, Highest accurate ones will be obviously the best, but most time consuming.

...really, it doesn't take that much time, pick the highest ones.

Table + chair in room.
Make it a office (q + r on the above)
[a]ssign it to the bookkeeper dwarf.
Remove all labors from the dwarfs labor list

(Booking is not a activly selected labor, he does it when he has nothing else to do)

His whispers will slip though the stone, into your dwarfs dreams and you shall know all accounts of items in your fort.

As the ages pass, you shall feed him other dwarfs. He enjoys the company, but it always only a mather of time before his blood lust robs him of his only friend.

Oh, ok, thanks a ton... i actually see now what you guys were talking about in the thread about dumping items from the stocks menu.
Ok, that makes it easier by a longshot.

My former bookkeeper had an office for about 8 fortress years, but since i thought "he would do it when he has time" and didnt (s)et him to do it, nothing ever happened. 8 years paid loitering, this cannot stand... guess i have a new miner to check for maga behind candy.
