how long do thoughts last?

In DF how long do positive or negative thoughts last?

Is there an order to the listed thoughts or is it random?

They are listed in temporal order, new thoughts are listed first. I don't know how long they'll last, though.

According to current knowledge thoughts last for a total of 1 year, with the positive or negative thought modifier caused by them dropping to half after .5 years. (So a +10 thought becomes a +5 after 6 months, then disappears completely after 6 more months.)
