Megabeast (and more) Gods
« on: August 25, 2012, 09:21:12 am »

Is there a way to mod the game so that megabeasts, night creatures, or whatever take over civiolizations (who then worship them) like demons do?

Yep. It's the [POWER] tag. I think they may need [INTELLIGENT] as well.

That should certainly be possible i think.

If you want to look into this yourself then it should be fairly easy to try out.

The [POWER] tag on a creature is what makes it worshippable, then I think you have to align it's SPHERE tags with a civilization's for them to worship it.  Thats why in vanilla you get demons leading goblins so often, goblins have the right (evil) spheres to look up to a demon.

I wish I had something cool to say about this.  Because it's really cool.

I did some research on this recently (my early results can be found in this thread).

You need both POWER and INTELLIGENT for megabeasts--or any creatures, actually*--to take over civilizations.  They do need a SPHERE token matching one of the civilization's deities before they can impersonate that deity, though. In addition, if the creature in question has SUPERNATURAL it'll have knowledge of any secrets with SUPERNATURAL_LEARNING_POSSIBLE that match its spheres, and it'll write books about them!

Getting people to actually worship megabeasts is both easier and harder. There's no way to force it, but if a megabeast attacks a site enough times then people will start to worship it on their own. It gets more likely the longer your history runs. If the megabeast has SUPERNATURAL and the right spheres for secrets, it may eventually create a slab.

*Naturally civilized creatures (like humans) only need INTELLIGENT to take over civs, but they can't impersonate deities at all, even with the POWER tag.
