I started a fort on a mountain biome that had no trees and therefore no way to make beds, so i was wondering, besides the caverns, is there any way to get wood other than fell trees?

There are the three logs which you get for deconstructing the wagon. (At least, a tiny dormatory. )
That's all until the caravan or the caverns (should be quicker to breach a cavern than to wait for the caravan).

Pretty much every caravan brings trees and its 3 Urists per log.

In your starting year, the first caravan will arrive in autumn (dwarven caravan).

Without breaching the caverns and starting an underground tree farm, your only hope of wood is the caravans.

However, most of the items you need wood for can also be built out of metal. You probably have alot of the stuff due to the mountain, so once you get your metalworks up and running, you'll be set for life.

Well OP's problem is a lack of beds for his exhausted dwarves. Only problem is Ive never received wooden logs from my first caravan. Then again if you currently have none in your stockpile I guess they will stock up on atleast a dozen or so logs right?

one time I had forbidden all logs in stockpile for a special bed for the baron and forgot to claim them again. I had previously asked the liaison to bring extra of any kind of wood they had... Well, it was extra extra. So yeah, if they think you don't have logs, they bring extras
