GAH! Bee help required!
« on: August 21, 2012, 05:31:34 pm »

So I had made the entrance to my so called, "Fort," and there is a colony of honey bees right at the entrance I had not noticed. How would I go about getting rid of them without having to make an artificial hive, enable beekeeping labor, and moving them there, never to be seen/heard of again. Can I move it or something?

Thanks in Advance--

Have you tried putting a road or floor tile over it?

No, I haven't. I really don't want to lay down a "stone" or "wood" tile, simply because it is outside, and I don't want to destroy (not really destroy... I'm sorry I have issues...) the landscape. Can I place it and remove it, whilst still removing the hive?

When you remove the floor tile or road, the ground underneath should be a furrowed soil tile.  It'll regrow grass shortly thereafter.

Worked like a charm! Thanks a lot!  :D

Why would you want to get rid of a beehive? It's a raw resource you may choose to use later and I don't believe bee stings give negative thoughts, I know they didn't in previous versions.

Beekeepers are morons, and will sometimes either walk out into sieges or giant badger herds to collect bees or go to a hive someone else got to first and just stand there, confused, until they're almost dead of dehydration.

Burrows and having only one active beekeeper can solve that. But the output will still be horribly worthless.

Indeed. If you have a pot, you can get a honeycomb and some royal jelly, which leads to making honey (and possibly mead) and some wax for crafts with a screw press and another jug.

Screw presses do not contain screws of any kind. Discuss.

Isn't the screw responsible for transferring the mechanical power down to the pressing plate?

No. Screws don't transfer power, and screw presses don't need power.

Are you talking about the game or the real world screw presses like this one?

If you're talking about the game, I just assume the mechanisms include the titular screw, what with the weaponized screws used in traps being over kill.

You know that dwarves would totally be the type to use death-drills just for honey production.
