Rocket Boy Comic - A Fundraise!
« on: August 20, 2012, 11:33:39 am »

Hi Bay12! So just now I tried a fundraising platform but it turns out that you need to share and fundraise by yourself first before they actually help expose your project. Bay 12 forum is the first community that pops out from my brain, probably because I don't know any other online community that I can visit to promote this. .

Ok so um, this is my first comic project. .

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's called ☼Rocket Boy☼
A story inspired by our worldly diversity, problems, and irony.

But wrapped in a simple fun comic that everyone could enjoy!
Where the main character is a cat, and his assistant, a human will explore and deal with random generated universe/planets and aliens, inspired by our worldly race, culture, etc. Basically they will deal with humanity inspired alien stupidity because of ego, racism, narcissism, etc.

Make sure to check it out:

Maybe you'd want to save a copy!  ;D

I'd really really appreciate a share, tweet, or likes of the project page!
Please help me pull this out dorfs! :)

Thank you!!!!

Normally we don't trust Escaped Lunatics that claim to already be from the community, or random shortened links from Escaped Lunatics.

Assuming you're not an adbot, I'd start a Kickstarter page, and run fundraising through them.

I apologize in advance for the skepticism, but adbots are fairly common.

Don't worry, I totally understand! I lurk in the forum mostly, yeah. . And it's a shortened link from indiegogo itself, a fundraising platform, I had to use it instead of kickstarter since I'm not a U.S resident. The full link is this: http://www.indiegogo.com/rocketboycomic

Well you registered last year, and spam bots generally don't lie dormant for that long :P

As someone intending to make a comic as well I can tell you that you'll have to rough out the initial pages to show a proof of concept. If you look at Kickstarter projects that did well you see pictures of production that they've already done. Simply speaking, your page is lacking substance. Not only that, but you lack confidence in the way you've written it.

I'd love to see this get off the ground, but I'm not sure if storyboard thumbnails will be enough. Personally, I'd start stockpiling ideas and comic strips, and once you find a more solid direction I'd repost an updated fundraising page with all the progress you've made.

Starting a comic is a difficult thing. You need characters, places, and a story or direction. Missing one of the elements is a dangerous thing to run with. I can respect anyone who seriously attempts a comic. I wish you the best of luck.
