Removing traps
« on: August 16, 2012, 02:11:28 pm »

So I didn1t know traps block caravan wagons now, and I built them at the wrong spot. How do I remove them? They don't seem to react to Q as other buildings, neither to 'remove construction'.
I've been playing DF for years, and somehow this never occured to me. If all else fails, I could destroy them with a cave-in or something, but that seems like a bit roundabout solution.

Oops, sorry for the stupid question, you are absolutely right. Still, a bit confusing: when you move the cursor over the trap, it doesn't show the name of the building like it does with the others. I guess this is because you can't really interact with traps once they are set up.

yeah, you don't get the highlighted or blinking things, makes it a bit tricky: you need to know it's there and it's what you selected

Erm...yeah, I thought everything was q-r for some reason. Fixed.

You can also use (t)-(x) to deconstruct buildings - in fact, back before the game went 3D, you had to use (t)-(x) since non-workshop buildings couldn't be (q)ueried.

I hope someday Toady does something about the fact that there are are about 4 "Inspect The Thingy Under The Cursor" functions. It's one thing about the UI that confused the hell out of me when I was new, and still bugs me.
