I... I can't really put into words how relieved I am right now. I... kinda thought for a while that I would lose one of my best friends. But she's going to be okay.

This is great!

A few things:

She has a contusion on her heart. Apparently it is only a bruise, which is good considering what it could be.

The only thing she requires further surgery for is her knee, so yay.

She's fully cognizant, and got mad when her mom was fussing around with her hair.

This is all very good news.

So, I went on facebook to check up on it before I went to bed, and...

Are u ready? Best praise report yet. This afternoon we came off the ventilator and extubated. No breathing tube, breathing totally on her own with just oxygen by a face mask. Looking good. Dr. ------- wrote in some paperwork for me the following "patient will need six months of extensive inpatient & outpatient for full recovery". I had to question "what do u mean by full recovery? Recovery from just the physical problems?". He said she might have headaches or dizziness and sometimes might get more tired and she needs to be careful doing stunts with cheerleading. Say what? He asked me was i upset with the six months. "I wrote that so you had more time from work if you needed it. She's young and probably wont't need that long". I'm still on my knees.

Thank you guys. For those of you that prayed for her, thank you. Even those who didn't, your well wishes are... They make me very happy.

She's doing well enough that they're transferring her from Grady trauma center to Eagleston Hospital. I'll make a point to go visit her.

The new hospital she moved to let her use a phone after she went through a bit of physical therapy, and she's been answering all the facebook messages she's gotten.

I visited her a few weeks ago at scottish rite, she's doing great! Thank you for all of your prayers and sciences and general well wishes, it and good old medical science are doing wonders!
