Well, I purchased this (KRZ, Ep I).
First off,
DO NOT WATCH ANY LP's ON THIS GAME IF YOU ARE EVEN REMOTELY INTERESTED IN PLAYING IT
Seriously, this is a game which has some great qualities, but they all are basically nothing if you watch the whole first episode without experiencing the pacing, the controls, and full quality audio. I won't discuss any plot event on this thread until later episodes come out.
The game starts with no menus, no introduction, nothing. You are thrust into a scene, you figure out rather quickly who you are controlling, and you start to build from there.
First off, graphics are consistent, clean, and effective. Neat ambiance with slick visual effects. Transitions between areas really flow well, and the game handles the use of light and dark very, very well. They've put every bit as much thought into light as was put into Alan Wake, and that's saying a lot.
There's some really subtle and fantastic "camera" effects throughout the game. Most of them go along with the plot perfectly, and once you do some analysis, they really make sense. The map navigation screen is disorienting and slightly overwhelming, which I'm pretty sure is intended.
For the most part, this game is extremely quiet, but it changes volume without warning. There are some downright bone-chilling sound effects throughout - and they are almost always unexpected. I am really disappointed that there isn't any voice acting- at the price point this game is, it really should have it, especially with as much time and care that has been spent with the other audio material.
My experience was Episode I is 2 - 2.5 hrs in length. This is with a tremendous amount of exploring in effort to see absolutely everything possible. There were a few small puzzles, but nothing extremely complex. The story takes a while to unfold, and there is some very deliberate pacing devices throughout to keep the exposition of plot slow.
I think it's a good buy for people who enjoy adventure games or "art" games such as Machinarium, To The Moon, Braid, etc. If you didn't enjoy any of the aforementioned, you'll likely feel as though this game is too expensive for the amount of content and very slow paced.
I said I wouldn't say anything about the plot, but I named my dog Homer.
