Nationalism had a fairly consistent and specific meaning, and rarely does much good  for those outside it's constraints. The thread could be a list of how this occurs and ways to mitigate it, usually involving reducing it,  or we could pick a new question.

nationalism :
1.  Devotion to the interests or culture of one's nation.
2.  The belief that nations will benefit from acting independently rather than collectively, emphasizing national rather than international goals.
3.  Aspirations for national independence in a country under foreign domination.

2 and 3 are quite unrelated to relation with multiculturalism.

1 is absolutely compatible with multicultarism if it benefits a culture in question, if not, it is absolutely incompatible

Of cause that is if we talk about etnic nationalism, because political nationalism cares only about citizenships not cultures and multicultural by definition

Of cause that is if we talk about etnic nationalism, because political nationalism cares only about citizenships not cultures and multicultural by definition

2 is visibly relevant to multiculturalism, namely because those cultures originated somewhere else, though I'll grant you 3, if not being the colloquial use.
