dwarf fortress wont start because of fmod?

so hey, ive been playing dwarf fortress for the last few weeks and ive taken a shining to it. however recently ive had to change computers in order to play it. so ive downloaded it to my most recent computer (about 4-5ish years old, runs like a champ) and for some reason whenever i try to unzip it, it tell me that it cant find fmod, to reinstall it, and then it decides to tell me that dwarf fortress shut down unexpectedly. is anyone familiar with this problem?

tinkered and fixed. problems with zip being the most unsavory of characters.
