How will turning liquid levels off effect the game?
« on: August 05, 2012, 04:08:31 pm »

I was wondering the mechanics behind liquid depth because I want to turn it off to improve FPS. Will it still flow, and to what extent? What can I expect from turning it off?

There's no such thing as "turning liquid levels off" - if you're looking at SHOW_FLOW_AMOUNTS, then that's just a display option which shouldn't have any noticeable effect on framerate unless you happen to be actually looking at a large body of flowing water (in which case turning it off might make it slightly slower because it has to draw the flow animation and colors instead of just a bunch of numbers).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
