I wonder... by the time those bloats are reached, will the game have become Slaves to Armok III?  I mean, it won't really be "Dwarf Fortress" anymore at that point...

I also feel that the "wizard fortress" is my favorite of the ultra-long-term bloats, though.

I've thought about that a little, or at least noticed it, along with the observation that "Chapter III:  Human Town" is kind of a crappy name.

i can understand stealing food. (are they clever enough to open a barrel? or are barrels just opened?)

... what i don't quite get is..

racoon stole "giant cave spider silk cloth".. doesn't show up where that happened..

btw.. is it possible to scroll through the announcement screen and zoom to events (aside from the seasonal stuff)

Raccoons and primates like food as well as small items.  Bears go for edibles only.  At least that's the intention.

talking about pieces... is there anything that one can do to the "chunks"? and how do you collect and use them before they rot?

The chunks and remains are parts of animals that dwarves have no use for.  Or parts of dwarves that animals have no use for.
