Considering all of the factors we have here in the Az, I'm really surprised that we don't have a higher crime rate then we do. As it is we are basically dead-on the national average for crimes, but when you consider that we:
1)Share a border with Mexico, which results in all sort of drug traffic, smuggling, and illegal immigration across the border
2)Grow a lot of marijuana due to the large uninhabited areas that we have (~70% is controlled or owned by the government, counting the reservations). I mean they find about 1-2 multi-billion dollar growing plots out in the woods a year in the area where I live, and we're a rather small town. Combine that with the fact that we recently passed the law for Medical Marijuana, and we grow a lot.
3)We have some 20 Indian Reservations composing almost a quarter of the state's land area, in which the police are tribal (who can't do more then give you three years max) and the federal such as FBI (who give crimes on reservations an extremely low priority). Reservations also allow for casinos in (well on the edge of the town on the rez) many towns.

I think the real reason why we don't have such bad crime rates is because there isn't actually that much organized crime present, probably because we are the suppliers for everywhere else, so rather then crime groups fighting over drug distribution everybody just grows their own supply, and then sells it to organized crime in other states.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

It's odd, because in Australia, the Liberals are the conservative party. So, basically republicans.

Then again, I know some very awesome republicans.

Outside America, what Americans call conservatism is called economic liberal, or neoliberal. What America calls Liberals is known as Social Liberals or roughly, but not quite as accurately Social Democratic.

The meaning of "conservatism" in America has little in common with the way the word is used elsewhere. As Ribuffo (2011) notes, "what Americans now call conservatism much of the world calls liberalism or neoliberalism."

In North America, unlike in Europe, the word liberalism almost exclusively refers to social liberalism in contemporary politics.

For neoliberalism:
Quote
Neoliberalism is an ideology based on the advocacy of economic liberalizations, free trade, and open markets. Neoliberalism supports privatization of state-owned enterprises, deregulation of markets, and promotion of the private sector's role in society. In the 1980s, much of neoliberal theory was incorporated into mainstream economics.

For social liberalism:
Quote
Social liberalism is the belief that liberalism should include social justice. It differs from classical liberalism in that it believes the legitimate role of the state includes addressing economic and social issues such as unemployment, health care, and education while simultaneously expanding civil rights. Social liberalism supports capitalism but stresses the need of social capital as a precondition to both capitalism and liberal democracy and rejects unchecked laissez-faire economics for failing to recognize the necessity of social capital.[1] Social liberalism views liberal democracy as being at its best when its individualism in society and in capitalism is moderated by public spirit and a readiness to associate.[2] Social liberal policies have been widely adopted in much of the capitalist world, particularly following World War II.[3] Social liberal ideas and parties tend to be considered centrist or centre-left.
