Empty cage stockpile problem
« on: July 16, 2012, 10:25:48 am »

Hi all,

not all of my cages are hauled to my empty cage stockpile. If I look on the magma forge (with T) I see zillions of iron cages.
I have 2 stockpiles where only empty cages are allowed. If I free some used cages, the cages will be hauled to the stockpiles. But not the cages in the forge. What is wrong here?

Thx for help

I am not sure, but iron cages are very heavy, I would try setting the "max wheelbarrow" to 1 or 2 on that stockpile. Dorves may refuse to haul a heavy ass cage a long way. Also, see if they're forbidden, see if your cage stockpile allows "non-plant/animal" goods.

Standard checklist for cage stockpile problems:
1: In the Standing (o)rders menu, are your dwarves set to gather animals?
2: Do your idle dwarves have the Animal Hauling labor enabled?
3: Can your dwarves reach both the cages and the animal stockpiles?
4: Are both the cages and stockpiles located in burrows your dwarves are permitted to enter?
5: Have the animal stockpiles been cleared of stone?

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
