Cavern Water on Saltwater Maps

I have a saltwater stream (dubious...) and I'm wondering if the cavern water is also salty? 

I forgot the embark was saltwater, so it took me a while to figure out why my buckets were full of salty water.  Now wondering whether I can find a better water source by going to the cavern, or whether that will be salty too.

Nope, cavern water is always pristine. You could also purify water by pumping it, if need be.
