Birthrate zero?

If you basically turn off childbirth (or turn it down absurdly) will it affect the entire civilization and result in there being no dwarves? My last fort ended up being more than one third children in less than a decade (my dwarves like to get busy) and all those little red bastards are irritating..

Your civilization stops making children once worldgen ends.  All new children are whatever your forts produce.  So eventually, no children will mean your civilization could potentially die out, but that's if you play the world long enough for all the dwarves originally created in worldgen to die of old age, and if all the children born in your forts get killed.

That is an insane and dangerous plan.  I approve wholeheartedly.

The d_init settings wouldn't affect world gen like that, but yeah, it happens anyway after enough time.
